IRP-Trip Permit

Out-of-state carriers who are operating an apportionable vehicle in Florida with a non-IRP registration issued by another jurisdiction must purchase a Florida trip permit to operate in Florida. The out-of-state carrier must obtain the Florida trip permit prior to entering the state of Florida, and it must remain with the vehicle while in the state. Visit FLHSMV IRP Temporary Trip Permits for more information.

IFTA-Fuel Permit

Carriers who are operating an IFTA qualified vehicle must purchase a Florida fuel permit to operate in Florida. The out-of-state carrier must obtain the Florida fuel permit prior to entering the state of Florida, and it must remain with the vehicle while in the state. Visit FLHSMV IFTA Temporary Fuel Use Permits for more information.

Additional Information for Florida-based carriers operating in other jurisdictions

Florida-based carriers who need to travel in another jurisdiction(s) with an apportionable vehicle that does not currently have a Florida IRP registration must obtain a temporary trip permit and temporary fuel permit from each of the jurisdictions in which they plan to travel.
